Celebrating Dr. Makarand Paranjape’s Election as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors
We are thrilled to announce that our esteemed colleague, Dr. Makarand Paranjape (Physics Department) has been elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) for 2024.
The NAI Fellows Selection Committee and Board of Directors have recognized Dr. Paranjape’s exceptional contributions to innovation, citing his prolific spirit of invention and the tangible impact of his work on society’s welfare and economic development.
A hallmark of Dr. Paranjape’s career has been his commitment to mentorship and education. He has consistently involved students at all levels – from high school to post-doctoral researchers – in various aspects of his innovative work, fostering the next generation of inventors and scientists.
Dr. Paranjape’s groundbreaking research focuses on engineering functional sensors for biomedical applications. His work, conducted in the Georgetown Nanoscience and Microtechnology Laboratory (GNμLab) , utilizes cutting-edge equipment and technologies similar to those used in integrated circuit manufacturing.
The formal induction ceremony will take place during the 14th NAI Annual Conference, scheduled for June 23-26, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. At this prestigious event, Dr. Paranjape will receive his official NAI Fellow certificate, medal, rosette, and lapel pin.
