Description

Histone Deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors can sensitize cancers to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. There are some HDAC inhibitors that are currently being tested in clinical trials but there exists a need for new and more effective HDAC inhibitors which are optimal with respect to efficacy, toxicity, and isoform-specificity. The present invention describes fluorescently labeled novel HDAC inhibitors that exert effects at lower concentrations with varying effectiveness against HDAC isoforms.

Applications

Cancer therapy and therapy for neurodegenerative diseases.

Advantages

  • Fluorescently labeled so that inhibitor can be visualized
  • Effective at lower concentrations.
  • Act by a novel mechanism

Stage of Development

Proof of concept demonstrated in cell lines and in prostate cancer animal models.
