Description
Histone Deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors can sensitize cancers to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. There are some HDAC inhibitors that are currently being tested in clinical trials but there exists a need for new and more effective HDAC inhibitors which are optimal with respect to efficacy, toxicity, and isoform-specificity. The present invention describes fluorescently labeled novel HDAC inhibitors that exert effects at lower concentrations with varying effectiveness against HDAC isoforms.
Applications
Cancer therapy and therapy for neurodegenerative diseases.Advantages
- Fluorescently labeled so that inhibitor can be visualized
- Effective at lower concentrations.
- Act by a novel mechanism
Stage of Development
Proof of concept demonstrated in cell lines and in prostate cancer animal models.Relevant Publications
