Description

The present invention provides a non to minimally invasive, bi-directional therapy for reconstructive plastic surgery by remodeling fat and to improve other metabolic parameters such as insulin resistance and other morbidities associated with obesity such as cardiovascular diseases or diabetes. In addition, the invention describes the methods for stabilizing or increasing fat depot and for promoting wound healing. Specifically, the invention is directed to the methods of using Neuropeptide Y receptor (NPY2R) modulators to remodel fat tissue; and offers new opportunities for the treatment and prevention of obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Applications

  • Stand alone therapy for fat remodeling of smaller areas
  • Adjunct therapy to traditional weight loss techniques.
  • Can be used in corrective procedures, for instance, to fill in depression caused by surgical procedures.
  • Wound healing

Advantages

  • Site-specific application
  • Fine tuning of fat tissue possible.

Stage of Development

Proof-of-concept studies done in mice models.
